SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

Direction of scientific research: mathematical modeling of modern problems in continuum mechanics (hydrodynamics, elasticity); applications to the problem of laser thermonuclear fusion; development of numerical methods for solving problems of mathematical physics in domains of complex shape; construction of quasi-monotone difference schemes with higher order of accuracy.

Author of support operators method (together with A.P. Favorsky).

V.F. Tishkin studied the symmetry and compression stability of laser targets. Basing on this research he gave a theoretical justification for the possibility of using high-aspect shells.

Head of research projects supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Science Foundation.

Science advisor of 13 PhD’s and 3 DSc’s.
